What qualifications do I need to be a bartender.

- know how to make drinks

How long does it take to become a good bartender?

Attending a bartending school is a great way to get started, and well worth the cost. After that, learning and being well versed in the drink recipes and how to make them is tantamount.
Many drinkers have discerning tastes and getting to know customer likes and preferences also makes a great difference if you have regulars. Everyone is different, so there is no prescribed amount of time, however, it can be done, and your willingness to succeed will likely be the determining factor.
Is it hard to become a bartender?
The field can be very competitive, it's true.
However, getting a job is not impossible, and will lead to your ability to practice your craft. Don't worry about tips, instead, your time is better spent pleasing your guests, and learning what techniques work best.
How do I start working as a bartender?
If you are able to find a banquet bartender position, this is a great way to start.
You will be required to know the basics using gin, rum, tequila, vodka, whiskey(s), scotch, wines and champagnes. Once this has been achieved, you will feel more comfortable moving on to a premium (full) bar, and expanding the number of recipes you will make on a regular basis.
